The case study method as a didactic strategy for the development of critical thinking in the training of business administrators

Abstract

The research focused on the case study method as a didactic strategy for the development of critical thinking in the training of business administrators. The general objective was: Analyze the effectiveness of the case study method as a didactic strategy to enhance the development of critical thinking in the training of business administrators at the Nueva Luz International University. Using a quantitative approach and a descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional design, data were collected through a questionnaire of 18 closed questions on a 5-option Likert scale. The sample consisted of 41 students selected by convenience from a total population of 205 students. The results and conclusions showed that a high percentage of the students between 93% and 98% found that the case study method was effective in improving their understanding of business administration concepts, developing critical thinking skills, providing a realistic context for learning, and foster an attitude of active learning
